Housing
an experienced and highly developed auditing department
with over 15 members of staff, Burgess Hodgson pride
themselves in delivering a flexible and professional
audit service to a range of developing and specialist
businesses.
Whenever an audit is required, our approach is designed
to add value to our clients' businesses and produce
positive benefits from our procedures, rather than simply
provide statutory reports.
Combining a professional understanding
of industries and trading environments, we use the audit
as a constructive and effective tool to provide independent
and objective information to assist in business development
and growth.
With our auditor’s understanding
of the regulatory framework and the technical issues
involved in pension scheme accounting, Burgess Hodgson
also acts as auditors and advisors to a wide variety
of occupational pension schemes. These range from directors’
pension schemes of owner-managed businesses as well
as schemes for listed Public Companies, and our department
is familiar with both defined benefit and defined contribution
schemes.
With the growing trend towards professional
regulation, Burgess Hodgson now actively support solicitors
and other professional bodies in complying with their
Institute requirements for specialist audits and reporting.
We have auditors practised in producing Law Society
reports, and have successfully advised professional
bodies in improving their compliance with industry rules.
Moreover, we have successfully assisted in auditing
and advising on European Projects Audits that have won
our clients applications for grants to the European
regional Development Fund and other EU departments.
As Registered Auditors we also act
as professional advisors to a wide scope of charities
to ensure they comply with accounts legislation and
provide comfort to trustees. At Burgess Hodgson we excel
in providing input throughout the year, including advice
on accounting records, attendance at meetings, briefing
on new developments with respect to the government's
Charities Act legislation and the charity Commissioners
guidance and generally looking after the interests of
the charity.
In addition to these services we also
provide audits for Associations, and can assist in the
preparation of audits and reports for companies that
are often required by banks and financiers within their
loan covenants.
At Burgess Hodgson we believe an auditors’
assessment and opinion must be rooted in a critical
understanding of each client’s industry value
drivers, competitive positioning and marketplace factors.
We can bring professional knowledge of principles and
business, and technical understanding of the systems,
processes and controls that are critical in providing
the right advice and results for our clients.
